Ok, well I'm sitting down now. I think we got most of the most cherished furnishings upstairs! ; ). Its stopped raining and the wind is gone. Thank goodness. The news is saying that our area is reporting 10 inches?! I'll have to see what my neighbors rain gauge reads. It feels better now that the rain has stopped.
The northern area of the county has been the hardest hit according to the news. 99 percent of the power companies power is off. 2.1 million customers without power. Wow, that's a lot.
Everyone on the street seems to be doing fine. My neighbor whose husband is working, is fine. She was a little upset that she lost all forms of communications with him but she knows I have cell service. I saw a woman running across my yard to check on her-apparently she was sent by her husband. That was nice.
The woman whose husband left for football game is fine. She's got neighbors staying with her and she's got a house sized generator. Our other neighbors have one as well but I think it kicked off around 5:30 with a big wind gust. I don't see any lights working there anymore.
The neighbors who are out of the country and whose house you see in the pictures-their sons came home-one from Chicago and the other from San Antonio. They had a lot of water leakage so it was good they were there to minimize the damage.
People are actually trying to drive down our street! What are they crazy, besides inconsiderate? The wake from the vehicle cause the water to move further up our lawn!
Well-we are stuck here. There is no getting through the water even in the truck.
Wish us good luck and speedy drainage and quick repairs!
Susan

Glad you're catching your breath. Good to hear that the rain stopped too. You must be doing all this communicating with your crackberry, I take it?
The pictures are amazing, I can't believe how much water is in your street. Unbelievable that people are trying to drive through it! I sure hope it drains soon!
How did your landscaping hold up? I noticed in one picture that one of your front trees was leaning pretty good. How bout those beautiful palm trees? Are they going to be ok? Sure hope so!
Hugs to you guys. =)
